Addax Hunting in Texas

Addax Hunting in Texas

Addax Hunting Season: Addax Antelope are an excellent species to hunt year-round in Texas! Their coats will be whiter during summer months and greyish-brown in the winter.

  •  Origin: Africa
  • Horn Size: 26-38 Inches
  • Weight: 150-325 pounds
  • Lonesome Bull Ranch Population: 27

The Addax makes a beautiful mount and is easy to harvest on the Lonesome Bull Ranch. They travel in small groups of 5-10 animals and have dominance in the herd but they are not aggressive to one another as other animals are. They are in the antelope family therefore they don’t lose their horns. These animals are know as super exotics because there are very few left in the world, in fact there are more in Texas than the rest of the world.

Interesting Addax Hunting Information

The Addax, also known as the white antelope and the screw horn antelope, is an antelope of the genus Addax, that lives in the Sahara Desert. It was first described scientifically by Henri de Blainville in 1816. As suggested by its alternative name, this pale antelope has long, twisted horns – typically 55 to 80 cm (22 to 31 in) in females and 70 to 85 cm (28 to 33 in) in males. Males stand from 105 to 115 cm (41 to 45 in) at the shoulder, with females at 95 to 110 cm (37 to 43 in).

They are sexually dimorphic, as the females are smaller than males. The color of the coat depends on the season – in the winter, it is greyish-brown with white hindquarters and legs, and long, brown hair on the head, neck, and shoulders; in the summer, the coat turns almost completely white or sandy blonde.
