Interesting Pere David’s Deer Hunting Information

The Père David’s Deer, also known as the milu or elaphure, is a species of deer that went extinct in the wild, but has been reintroduced in some areas. The milu is native to the river valleys of China, where it prefers wetland habitats. It grazes mainly on grass and aquatic plants. It is the only extant member of the genus Elaphurus. Based on genetic comparisons, Père David’s deer is closely related to the deer of the genus Cervus, leading many experts to suggest merging Elaphurus into Cervus, or demoting Elaphurus to a subgenus of Cervus.

Pere David’s get their name from Father David, the man who saved them (pere means “father” in French). Father David managed to smuggle a few out of China. With the help of zoos, the Duke of Bedford, and hunting ranches, their numbers have been growing ever since.

Non-Hunter Per Night (Observing Fee): $210

• If you shoot a pregnant female of any breed, you will be fined $1,000.

We have full kitchen, cable TV, ice and a fire pit at your disposal. If a chef/cook is requested the usual rate (depending on how many in your group) starts at $125 per day for a group of 4 and up to $295 per day for a group of 20+ plus the price of groceries.
