Elk Hunting Season: There are no seasonal restrictions on Elk in Texas, however any time after August is the best time of year because they are out of velvet.

Elk here on the Lonesome Bull Ranch are reasonably priced but we are not harvesting 400+ inch elk like a few years back. We take 4 hunters at the begining of the season on the (presidential hunt), for $5950 . The Elk on the Lonesome Bull Ranch are so reasonably priced we sell out each year. We recommend early booking for your Elk hunt.

Interesting Elk Hunting Information

Elk and Red Deer (or Red stag) are part of the same family. They do cross breed. Elk have a pair of ivory teeth that is a big part of the hunter’s trophy that people make jewelry out of. The bull elk during mating season here on the Lonesome Bull Ranch tend to keep us up at night bungling. Elk can be dangerous during breeding season and act crazy. I guess if we only got to breed once a year, we would be crazy also.

You may hunt our Trophy Elks using any method you prefer, including Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Pistol Hunting, Safari Style, or from a Blind. All of our Elks are free ranging on over 2600 acres of South Texas Brush Country.

We have full kitchen, cable TV, ice and a fire pit at your disposal. If a chef/cook is requested the usual rate (depending on how many in your group) starts at $125 per day for a group of 4 and up to $295 per day for a group of 20+ plus the price of groceries.

We recommend making Elk Hunting reservations well in advance to secure availability.
