Waterbucks are one of the largest antelopes in the world and are very hardy. There are two types of waterbuck (Common Waterbuck and Defassa Waterbuck). We have Common waterbuck on the Lonesome Bull Ranch. Some People Question the meat quality but our customers along with our sells love the meat.

Interesting Waterbuck Hunting Information

In East Africa two types of waterbuck occur, the common waterbuck and the defassa waterbuck. They are distinguished only by the pattern on their rump. The common waterbuck has a conspicuous white ring encircling a dark rump. The defassa waterbuck has wide white patches on either side of the rump. They prefer warmer climate and here on the Lonesome Bull Ranch we have lost fur when freezing temperatures stay below 32 for 3-4 days which doesn’t happen often out here.

You may hunt our trophy Waterbuck using any method you prefer, including Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Pistol hunting, Safari style, or from a Blind. All our Waterbuck are free ranging on over 2600 acres of South Texas Brush Country!

    We have full kitchen, cable TV, ice and a fire pit at your disposal. If a chef/cook is requested the usual rate (depending on how many in your group) starts at $125 per day for a group of 4 and up to $295 per day for a group of 20+ plus the price of groceries.

    We recommend making Waterbuck Hunting reservations well in advance to secure availability.
