Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunting in Texas
Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunting Season: Scimitar Horned Oryx keep their horns year-round, which makes them an excellent choice for hunting any time of the year here in Texas!
- Origin: Africa
- Horn Size: 34”-46” Inches
- Weight: 250-450 pounds
- Lonesome Bull Ranch Population: 250+
The Scimitar Horned Oryx on the Lonesome Bull Ranch can be seen in large groups of over 100 or just a few in small groups. They make a beautiful mount and are very tasty. They are extinct in the native environment because they were so good eating and were wiped out in Africa during one of the civil wars. The hardest thing about Scimitar Horned Oryx hunting is getting a clear shot because of the large groups. Also, the Scimitar Horned Oryx will cross with Gemsbok and make a nice mount. We have them on the Lonesome Bull Ranch under “Simboh”.
Interesting Scimitar Horned Oryx Hunting Information
The scimitar oryx or scimitar-horned oryx (Oryx dammah), also known as the Sahara oryx, is a species of Oryx that was once widespread across North Africa. The species went extinct in the wild in 2000 but a group was released into an acclimation enclosure within the Ouadi Rimé-Ouadi Achim Faunal Reserve in 2016, then reintroduced back into the wild.
